Debt Management Plan
Debt management plan is otherwise known as debt consolidation. It is designed only for those who have serious problems with debts. So before enrolling in a debt management plan, the debtor should analyze the situation. If a person signs up with the DMP, he cannot avail a new credit. This is because the creditors will actually close his account. So the debtor should be aware of the possible consequences of a poor debt management plan.
He should check for the rating of the company that offers him the debt management plan. He should pay more attention to the track record of the company. If the company does not have proven track record, he can opt for some other company.
The debtor should also be wary of the companies that advertise debt management plans for free of costs. The debt management or debt counseling services can hardly be given for free of cost. Even voluntary organizations collect a nominal charge for these services.
