Who Can Help Me With A DMP?
A first choice is the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). The purpose of this organization is to provide information and counseling to people on credit matters.
Among their personal plan and solution services, they have a DMP package.
With this customized debt management plan you only need to make monthly payments to the NFCC. Then, they will manage your money and pay your loaners. What are the benefits? You will not receive as many collection calls and will not have to pay as much in financial charges.
Through this DMP, it will take between 36 to 60 months to pay all of your debts (the time period depends on the amount of money that you owe, to whom you owe it and your level of income). But things do not stop there. The NFCC will help you rebuild your credit history once things are over. That way you can reinsert yourself into the system and enjoy the benefits of credit.
Another organization is Money Management International (MMI). This nonprofit organization provides financial counseling and guidance to the public. For the last 46 years, they have helped thousands of individuals through out the US, providing them with an alternative that is much better than declaring bankruptcy.
In the DMP of the MMI (which is also offered in the UK through the Consumer Credit Counseling Service), financial counselors will evaluate your financial situation by looking at your income, the amount of money that you owe, your expenses, and to whom you owe the money.
Once they have all the information, they will contact the loaners and negotiate lower interest rates, fewer financial charges and the possibility of stopping collection calls to your house. With their budget debt management plan, they will save money and save time. And, you don't even have to approach MMI to make your payments. With your authorization, they can deduct, automatically, your monthly quota from your checking or savings account.
A debt free management plan can save you from very awkward situations. After all, credit is everything in the US. If an individual doesn't have a good credit history, he will have to suffer a lifetime of high interest rates, the inability to use credit cards (which means that you won't be able to buy online or even purchase plane tickets) or the impossibility to apply for a mortgage. A debt management plan is an excellent way to avoid this.
